Winter Workshop 2017
On June 17th – 18th 2017 the Swing It Winter Workshop returns!
Winter Workshop Teachers…
Who are your teachers this year? Well I’m very excited to say that Henric & Joanna are back and oh boy are we in for a treat!!
This wonderful couple have been teaching and dancing for years. Both are Boogie Woogie, Swedish Bugg and Lindy Hop Champions (way to be amazing guys!) and have been regular teachers at the Herrang Dance Camp for many years.
Given they’re Swedish it goes without saying that they’re incredibly friendly (they are) but they’re also fantastic teachers; whenever I see them teach I’m always amazed at the creativity of their moves and material. If one thing is certain, it’s that you’ll be coming away from this weekend with a LOT of cool moves.
Amazing Classes…
The best part about these weekends is your access to great classes. Not only that but eight hours of great classes! Whoo!
You’ll be getting new material and input from our visiting teachers but also the chance to spend all that time dancing and working on your skills.
Outside of new material, just spending that amount of time dancing and moving will improve your dancing so much. Also…fun!
Swing And Boogie Woogie…
Given Henric & Joanna are Swing *and* Boogie Woogie world champions I thought it would be fantastic for them to teach a little Boogie Woogie when they’re here. Boogie Woogie is taught every year at the Herrang Dance Camp and is a European style of Swing dancing.
Boogie Woogie will be taught in the second half of the Saturday workshop classes.
Saturday Night Charity Dance…
This years Winter Workshop Saturday night social is going to be extra special. Our dance will be raising money and awareness for beyondblue – an independent non-profit organisation that promotes good mental health, tackles stigma and discrimination, and provides support and information on anxiety, depression and related mental disorders.
Dancing is such an incredible way to help with mental health and we want to give to an organisation that stands at the forefront of helping those who are suffering. Join us for a fun night of dancing and fundraising!
This will of course also be the perfect opportunity to social dance with our incredible international guests Henric and Joanna Stillman.

A Weekend To Remember…
It’s not just about classes or dancing it’s also about meeting people, hanging out with friends and having fun. The Winter Workshop is taking place during winter so what better way to cheer up and warm up!

FRIDAY 16th June Mixin’ It Up At The Mustang
Get warmed up for the big weekend by social dancing at the most happenin’ live gig in town. Dance to live music and dance with the big stars of the weekend. Our teachers are dying to dance with you!

SATURDAY 17th June

This year we have a very special dance planned, a dance to raise funds for Beyond Blue, an organisation dedicated to helping those suffering from depression and anxiety. Stay tuned for more information!
COST: $15 entry or free with a Full Pass

Sunday Workshop Classes – North Perth Town Hall, View St North Perth
1.00pm – 3.00pm: Lindy Hop!

Dance to the best tunes in town at the Belgian Beer Cafe, King St Perth 7.30pm – 10pm.
Cost: Free.
PASS INFORMATION
Swing It Winter Workshop 2017 is an “open level” workshop and is available to all students Level 2 and up. This means you’ll be able to spend a whole weekend working with our guest teachers, eight whole hours of Henric & Joanna sharing their knowledge and opinions on a variety of Lindy Hop topics!
There are two passes available…
A Full Pass will give you:
- Eight hours of classes
- Free entry to ALL social dances
- You can register for your Full Pass below after the Payment section
A Single Day Pass will give you:
- Four hours of classes on the day of your choice
CANCELLATION POLICY: Refunds will only be given for cancellations made two weeks prior to the event.
PAYMENT
Cash
If you would like to pay in cash for you pass you can do so at any of our class locations. All you’ll need to do is fill out one of the registration forms, pay for your registration and you’re set!
Also, coming up with all of the money at once can be hard sometimes. If you like you can place a $50 deposit to secure a spot and then pay in instalments. If you do wish to pay in instalments, please make sure you have paid in full by June 4th.

If a Bank transfer is more your style you can simply transfer your money through to this account and email me (shane@swingit.com.au) once you’ve done it. In the email, let me know the pass you’d like:
